JEFF-JACK DINNER - COBO HALL - APRIL 2008 |
|
POSTED 4/12/08 South County Democratic Club sponsored a table at the at the MDP's Jefferson/Jackson Dinner
Ten SCDC members attended – driving over in the morning and returning that night. Political speeches were given by Governor Granholm, Senator Levin (campaign web site), Representative Andy Dillon, Senator Schauer (campaign web site), Mark Brewer, and others. The best oration was that of Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana. Mark is a farmer and rancher who held no elected office prior to January 2005, when he was sworn in as the first Democratic Governor to serve Montana in 20 years. He has become known for his forward-looking energy policies, his hard-driving and common sense leadership style, and his working attire: blue-jeans, boots, a jacket, and a bolo-tie. If you get a chance to see Mark, do so! He was Great!

When news of the tryst between her husband, Thomas Athans, and a prostitute broke, we were shocked. Our concern was immediately directed to the humiliation and suffering that Senator Stabenow was experiencing. Unlike the sex scandals involving the governor from New York or Senator Larry Criag, Senator Stabenow didn't do anything wrong; Senator Stabenow is an innocent in this mess.
Will this hurt the Senator? Probably not. It's embarrassing for her and her family; yet, there is a lot of sympathy for her. When the shock of the news wears away and people begin thinking -- they will know that Debbie is guiltless. She is one of the victims in all this. She must be extremely disappointed in her husband's behavior.
Debbie, it was so good to see you at the Jeff/Jack Dinner. South County Club
supports you during this difficult time.
