A Request for Help

South County Democratic Club is a group of volunteers who first came together in the spring of 2004. "South County" is totally sustained by the hard work of our membership and the generosity of people like you.

No one in our club earns a salary. No one in our club is compensated for even gas, meals or lodging expenses when attending meetings on our behalf. We work to improve the quality of life for familes -- families like yours and ours.

Please consider making a contribution to our cause through "Act Blue." "Act Blue" is an organization that centralizes gifts to candidates, county organizations and clubs. It is user friendly and easy to make a donation using a credit or debit card.

All donations, large and small, will
make an incredible impact.

Sandy Hook:

Sandy Hook

Digital sympathy card for families affected by the Newtown massacre draws more than 2 million signatures worldwide

A digital sympathy card for the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting has circulated on the Internet and gathered more than 2 million signatures from concerned and mourning people across the world.

The electronic card, which was created by 9/11 Day co-founder David Paine, contains a brief but thoughtful note:

“We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all of the families of those lost, to the survivors and their families, and to the others impacted by the senseless and unthinkable tragedy that unfolded at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We cannot begin to comprehend the depth of your sadness and grief. Please know that we care deeply for you and we join with you in sharing your sorrow and pain. We only hope that you receive some measure of comfort in the knowledge that we, and an entire nation, stand with you during this extraordinarily difficult time.”

Based on an outpouring of public interest, the U.S. Postal Service has set up a dedicated P.O. box that allows the public to send messages and other items to victims’ families.

The address is:

Message from our new chair:

Jeanne with Senator Levin

Jeanne Arbanas, Senator Levin and her husband Jack

Greetings SCDC Members,

As 2012 comes to an end, the Executive Board of the South County Democratic Club wishes each and every one of you, and your families, a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

It has been a momentous year! Many worked so hard to see President Obama re-elected and we are very grateful to them. We are also grateful for the wonderful candidates that chose to run this year, as well. We have much work to do in 2013 in support of our Democratic officials, and making sure Republicans like State Representative Pagel, Governor Snyder, and Congressman Upton hear our voices regularly. We plan to stay on top of the latest issues and continue reaching out with our Democratic message to friends and neighbors. Let us continue our commitment to build a stronger Democratic presence in our community. We are grateful to you for your continued support in this effort. It means so much to our party, our city, state and, indeed, our country!

Sincerely,
Jeanne
